BBC Music Introducing Stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend

Line-up announced for the BBC Music Introducing Stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend Hull 2017.

BBC Radio 1’s MistaJam and Huw Stephens last night announced the line-up for the BBC Music Introducing Stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Hull, revealing the acts who will be performing at Radio 1’s flagship live music event taking place at Burton Constable Hall on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May.

The Introducing stage will showcase performances from the best emerging talent from across the UK, and will include appearances from a number of artists from Hull and the wider Yorkshire area, including Krrum, Flawes, LIFE, The Hubbards, Lumer, C.O AKA Chiedu Oraka and Jack Conman.

Huw Stephens said: “Once again we have a brilliant line up for the BBC Introducing stage. The gigs at the Radio 1 Academy have been a lot of fun with Introducing Humberside, and we look forward to continuing the fun at Radio 1’s Big Weekend.”

The two-day event hosted by Radio 1 DJs will feature three stages – the Main Stage, Where It Begins Stage and BBC Music Introducing Stage – and will host performances from some of the biggest and newest UK and international acts, bringing the nation together for a shared live music moment. Other artists to perform across the event’s Main Stage and Where It Begins Stage include Katy Perry, Kings of Leon, Stormzy, Little Mix, Royal Blood and Rita Ora.

In the lead-up to Big Weekend, Radio 1 and BBC Learning will produce Radio 1’s Academy, which aims to inspire local 16– to 19– year–olds to take the next step in creative careers. Radio 1’s Academy includes a series of special events, local engagement and face-to-face activity in the area with a packed week of radio shows, gigs, masterclasses and Q&As.

Radio 1’s Big Weekend will be broadcast live on Radio 1, streamed in vision at bbc.co.uk/radio1. All performances will be available to watch live and on demand on Radio 1’s iPlayer channel. Highlights will be broadcast on BBC Four.
