‘Tis the season to be jolly, and our region’s jam-packed festive programme is set to make the merriment easy to come by.
Hull Truck Theatre kicks things off, bringing the Ghost of Christmas Past bang up-to-date as they put their own spin on the Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol (1 Dec 2017 – 6 Jan 2018).
Pioneers of the alternative panto, Middle Child, return with their trademark chaotic comedy. A performance as unmissable as it is unorthodox, this time it’s Cinderella (16 – 30 Dec) getting the lairy-tale makeover, with raucous live music and the messiest mess scene in the country making Früit the perfect place to let kids of all ages unleash their energy.
Hull New Theatre’s Peter Pan (7 – 31 Dec) also gets a fitting twist for the UK City of Culture year, as the journey to Neverland leaves from the Darling family’s new home in Hull. In the first panto to grace Hull New Theatre’s tage since its multi-million pound refurbishment, the venue welcomes an all-start cast that includes singer and TV personality Darren Day, Emmerdale star Charlie Hardwick and Coach Trip’s legendary host, Brendan Sherrin.
Meanwhile, Bridlington Spa takes audiences on a magical Christmas carpet ride in Aladdin (15 Dec 2017 – 2 Jan 2018) with a little help from Strictly Come Dancing pro Robin Windsor.
