Gallery: Contains Strong Language & Humber Mouth 2017

Highlights from this year’s 11-day literature, poetry and performance extravaganza.

Combining the poetic might of Humber Mouth with the brand new Contains Strong Language festival from the BBC, this celebration of all things literary brought the likes of Will Self, Kate Tempest, Isaiah Hull, Dr John Cooper Clarke, Sara Pascoe and Imtiaz Dharker to Hull.

Exploring everything from the female body to dyslexia, race and adoption, this two-festival festival was a unique and compelling celebration of contemporary literature.

Here are just a few of our highlights.
