Our pick of the live bands you won’t want to miss this year
Saturday 26 May, 2018; 8pm; The New Adelphi Club; £6-£8.
Hull’s own indie rockers and self-proclaimed inventors of Britpop were all over the top 40 in the early Nineties with the likes of Ten Years Asleep, Queen Jane and Armchair Anarchist. Twenty-five years after they hit the charts, two of the three original members (and a couple of honorary Kingmakers) bring it back home to the Adelphi.
Thursday 31 May, 2018; 7.30pm; North Point Shopping Centre, Bransholme; £7.50.
Hot on the heels of Black Grape, ex-Libertines frontman Carl Barat, Life and co, Merseyside indie rockers The Coral are the next big act set to take the North Point Shopping Centre stage by storm. Yep, you read that right. Brilliant, bargain gigs where you least expect them are how we roll in Hull these days. Eyes peeled for ticket news, as they’re being released in phases.
Saturday 9 June, 2018; noon to 11pm; Zebedee’s Yard, Hull city centre; £29.50 + booking fee.
Organised by The Warren Youth Project as part of its 53 Degrees North music conference, this punk-tinged all-dayer of new music has one of the most exciting line-ups of the summer. From headliners Slaves, via The Horrors and Hull’s Life and Vulgarians, this one’s going to be loud!

More Eighties superstars than you can shake a sparkly shoulder pad at. This megagig fronted by Boy George and Culture Club also brings you the classic tunes of Belinda Carlisle and a Thompson Twin. Hits a go-go.

The hills are alive with the sound of Madness, say the nutty boys. We suggest taking One Step Beyond with them for what promises to be one heck of a Christmas party night. Support comes from The Fratellis.
