Interview: Stewart Baxter from Warren Records

We sat down with the man behind Hull’s young people’s record label.

If you want to know about the grassroots music scene in Hull, speak to Stewart Baxter. He’s the Label Manager at Warren Records, a record label set up to give young musicians in Hull a platform to share their work and an opportunity to learn about the music industry. A musician himself, he turned up at The Warren looking for recording space as a 15 year old – and hasn’t left since. He’s gone on to become a producer, composer and event manager, working at the heart of Hull’s independent music scene.

Stewart’s also an Arts Development Worker at The Warren Young People’s Project, providing advocacy and advice for some of the city’s most vulnerable young people. We met Stewart to find out the story of Warren Records and learn more about how The Warren is improving young people’s lives in Hull through music.
