Road Closures: Land of Green Ginger Unleashed

The Land of Green Ginger is being called back, but not before one more Act of Wanton Wonder. You are invited to watch as the full force of the city’s imagination is unleashed in a procession through the streets of the Old Town.

Here is everything you need to know about the planned road closures for the Land of Green Ginger Unleashed event.

Saturday 4 November 2017
Alfred Gelder Street. Lane closure – next to Coop Bank – from 23:30 until 06:00 on Sunday 5 November.

Sunday 5 November 2017

High Street. From Liberty Lane to Queen Street. Overnight closure from 01:00 until 06:00.

Friday 10 November 2017

Saville Street. Full street. From 17:00 on Friday 10 November until 21:00 on Saturday 11 November.

Guildhall Road. Full street. From 17:00 on Friday 10 November until 21:00 on Saturday 11 November.

Saturday 11 November

Saville Street closure continues until 21:00.  During the day on Saturday 11 November there will be a build compound located in a fenced off area on Savile Street. Access to pavements and shop frontages will be maintained. The parade will leave from Savile Street at 18:30 on Saturday 11 November. The build site will be removed overnight.

Guildhall Road closure continues until 21:00.

Wellington Street. From Pier Street. Full Closure from 07:00 until 21:00.

Wilberforce Drive. George Street to Lowgate. Full Closure from 16:00 until 21:00.

Alfred Gelder Street Gate. No access from 16:00 until 21:00.

South Church Street. Access only from 16:00 until 21:00.

  • Bond Street. Jameson Street to Vernon Street.
  • Vernon Street. From Bond Street to Queens Dock Avenue.
  • Queens Dock Avenue. Full street.
  • Carr Lane. Queens Dock Avenue to Paragon Street.
  • Alfred Gelder Street. Queens Dock Avenue to Clarence Street.
  • Quay Street. Full street.
  • Hanover Square. Full street.
  • From Wilberforce Drive to Market Place.
  • Chapel Lane. High Street to Lowgate.
  • Bishop Lane. Full street.
  • Scale Lane. Full street.
  • Liberty Lane. Full street.
  • North Churchside. Full street.
  • Humber Street. Full street.
  • Queen Street. Full street.

Temporary Road Closure
All from 11:00 to 12:00 on Saturday 11 November:

No Waiting
All from 17:00 on Friday 10 November until 23:59 on Saturday 11 November:

  • Guildhall Road.
  • Lowgate
  • Liberty Lane.
  • Wellington Street.
  • Savile Street.

Sunday 12 November
Alfred Gelder Street. Lane closure – next to Coop Bank – from 23:00 until 05:00 on Monday 13 November.

Monday 13 November
High Street. From Liberty Lane to Queen Street. Overnight closure from 01:00 until 06:00.
