Aged 15 or under and fancy having your artwork displayed at one of the city’s best museums? Here’s your chance to get creative and submit your work to be part of The Ferens Art Gallery Junior Open exhibition.
The winning entries will be displayed in the Hull Maritime Museum, the first time the museum has hosted galleries Junior Open Exhibition.
Entries can be made as an individual, or as part of a group or youth club between Monday 30 October and Sunday 12 November. Schools and clubs may submit a maximum of 20 artworks from individuals or on behalf of a class or club.
Since the Ferens reopened in January we’ve been inundated with young artists, among our million visitors so far this year
Councillor Terry Geraghty, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Leisure and Chair of Hull Culture and Leisure, said:

Interested? Here are a few bits you’ll need to know…
You should make sure your works are flat, on paper or card, and can be in a variety of media, for example, paint, pastel, ink, collage. No framed work will be accepted and all entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form.
The selected artworks will be on display at the Hull Maritime Museum between Saturday 25 November and Sunday 21 January 2018.
Prizes, which have been kindly donated by Friends of the Ferens and The Hull and East Riding branch of The Art Society, are on offer to the best entries in each of the following categories:
- six and under
- seven to 11 year-olds
- 12-15 year-olds
Entry is free and must be delivered to the Hull Maritime Museum, Queen Victoria Square.
