The stats are in, and we now know that Hull’s UK City of Culture year attracted a total audience of 5.3 million, contributing a projected £300 million to our economy and raising annual visitor numbers by around 1.3 million compared with 2013.
But what about the impact on local people? 95% of all residents got stuck into the culture during 2017, and 3 in 4 residents told us they are now proud to live in Hull. New businesses are popping up all around our city centre, our public realm is looking better than ever and young people in Hull are more engaged in culture than ever before.
And there’s plenty more where that came from – take a look at the Cultural Transformations evaluation report produced by the University of Hull for more information.
Hull 2017 transformed our city, but it was only the beginning.
We’re just getting started.
