The magic carpet is flying, the lamp is shiny and bright and three wishes are being granted after East Yorkshire’s biggest pantomime raised its curtain at Hull New Theatre.
The venue has been transformed into a Cave of Wonders with the arrival of Aladdin and a lamp-load of comedy, jaw-dropping special effects, sensational songs, dance and plenty of boos and hisses the whole family will enjoy until 29 December.
Follow Aladdin, his brother Wishee Washee, and of course his mother Widow Twankey, on a spectacular adventure they’ll never forget, with flying carpets, a wish-granting genie, beautiful princess, an evil sorcerer and plenty of festive magic.
The all-star cast features Blue singer Simon Webbe as the lovable street urchin, Benidorm favourite Jake Canuso as the Genie, the evil sorcerer Abanazar is played by film and television legend Robin Askwith, and comedian Neil Hurst is Aladdin’s brother Wishee Washee.
Joining them on the magic carpet ride of a lifetime are Princess Jasmine – Charlotte Barnes and of course panto would be nothing without a dame as Darren Machin dons the frock for his role as Widow Twankey.
The countdown is over it is most definitely ‘behind you’- and the brilliant cast have been transported to Old Peking for this year’s spectacular annual pantomime – it’s time to join them.
