Festive Family Fun Flies into the Hull Truck Studio this Christmas

Following the huge popularity of The Ugly Duckling Christmas Special last year, we are thrilled to be staging this brand-new production of How to Fly Like A Reindeer in our Studio space, working alongside fantastic local theatre-makers The Herd. Together, we have worked to create a magically festive experience for 2-5 year olds who will be captivated by this touching story about superpowers, family and being far from home.

Nina desperately wants to fly. To taste the clouds. To race a reindeer. To visit her Grandma at Christmas. Because Christmas time is Grandma time, but Nina’s just moved house and this year they’re 900 miles apart.

She flaps. She spins. She swoops. But will she fly?

All showings of How To Fly Like A Reindeer will be Relaxed Performances, this means they are specifically designed to welcome people who will benefit from a more relaxed environment and include additional lighting, gentler sound effects and a friendly attitude to noise and movement in the auditorium – perfect for little ones who are experiencing theatre for the first time.

Hull-based company The Herd, who are Affiliate Artists of Hull Truck Theatre, have had great success this year with their show Slime touring the UK – including a preview in the Hull Truck Studio – ahead of their sell-out run at Edinburgh Central Library during the Fringe Festival.

Doing the animations for How To Fly Like A Reindeer is My Pockets, an award-winning production company based in Hull. We previously worked with them on our “Committed to being for everyone” campaign video, promoting equality and diversity to all aspects of the theatre. The company have previously been supported by the BBC, the BFI and Hull 2017 amongst others.
