Happy Endings Stolen By Joanna Lumley, Or Was It The Big Bad Wolf?

Beloved fairy-tales will be given a unique twist by two internationally renowned ballet companies when balletLORENT and Northern Ballet bring their family-friendly productions to Hull New Theatre.

Award – winning actress and Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley narrates balletLORENT’s The Lost Happy Endings during two performances on 22 May.

The original story by former Poet Laurette Carol Ann Duffy tells the tale of a magical girl named Jub who lives deep in the forest. Her job is to guard the happy endings to stories and fairy tales, but one day a witch steals them.

In this fantasy family show packed with spirit, adventure, and glorious surprises Goldilocks has changed the locks on the three bears’ cottage, Cinderella’s foot is now too big for the glass slipper and Little Red Riding Hood is gobbled up by the wolf.

If she survives, the girl visiting her grandmother will return for Northern Ballet’s interpretation of Little Red Riding Hood for the companies’ two shows on 30 May.

In this retelling of the classic fairy-tale, the heroine is on her way to grandma’s house and meets a very hungry wolf in the forest who just wants something to eat. But is he really such a big, bad wolf?

Join Little Red on her adventure as she makes friends and discovers the importance of kindness in this show produced by Northern Ballet, who have enjoyed sell-out performances and a string of hugely successful CBeebies TV adaptations.

Both shows are the perfect opportunity for all generations to enjoy live ballet, music and theatre.

Tickets on sale on Friday the 10th of January.
