Little Amal, is an internationally acclaimed 12-foot puppet of a ten-year old refugee girl, who has been travelling the world. On Sunday 22 September Little Amal will visit Pearson Park where she will help celebrate the diversity of the city’s communities and raise awareness of the plight of refugees.
Hull Freedom Chorus will be singing for 10 minutes and leading some audience participation, to support the event, led by visiting choir leader Ali Bullivent accompanied on djembe by Zimbabwean drummer Godfrey Pambalipe.
We have a new song in three vocal parts written especially for Hull to bid Little Amal farewell. This will be taught by ear (no need to read music) with support of learning recordings shared online.
If you would like to be part of the Freedom Chorus’ contribution to this event please ensure you are available for rehearsals and performance and email cityartsenquiries@hullcc.gov.uk stating your name and subject line ‘Little Amal Yes’.
All singers are welcome, children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Here’s the schedule for this project:

Friday 20 September, 7-9pm rehearsal led by Ali Bullivent

Hull Freedom Chorus is a massed singing project with over 3,00o members, organised by Arts Development, Hull City Council to get more people involved in group singing. It is free join and take part.
It’s hoped that the visit by Little Amal will provide a wonderful opportunity to celebrate diversity, highlight the plight of refugees with compassion and share a positive message of hope in the heart of our community. Singing with the Freedom Chorus with Ali and Godfrey will be a joyful experience for all.
