Between 1939 and 1945 thousands of people across Hull were drawn into the Second World War, as soldiers, nurses, firefighters, evacuees, war workers and more. Eighty-six air raids on the city from June 1940 to March 1945 brought terror and tragedy home, to thousands more.

Just outside of the reach of the trail is the Grade II listed National Picture Theatre on Beverley Road. This is rare example of a surviving building that was bombed out during the Blitz.
The route is approximately 2 miles long and should take around 1.5-2 hours, depending on your walking pace and breaks.
The trail has been created in partnership with the Hull History Centre and The Hull People’s Memorial, and generously funded by the University of Leeds.
