Summary

Working with local community groups, mosaic artists belonging to the British Association for Modern Mosaics (BAMM) have created a piece of artwork featuring 100 bird-shaped mosaic pieces, which will be assembled to represent a flock of birds flying towards freedom.

Each of the birds has been created by Yorkshire-based BAMM members, community groups or individuals during workshops that took place between April and June. These workshops took place across Hull, at the Hull Reform Synagogue, Hull and East Yorkshire Centre for the Deaf, Artlink, Marist Hall and Wansbeck Primary School.

The project gave Hull residents the opportunity to discover mosaic art, and allowed residents to participate in the creation of a professional piece of artwork. All of the birds made during the workshops will be included in the final artwork. The artwork will initially be displayed in Hull Paragon Interchange for a year, with a look of the artwork being permanently displayed.
