Join St Charles Borromeo church or their Solemn Mass to celebrate the Feast of St Charles Borromeo in their splendid church in the centre of Hull. The music, sung by the Choir and Schola of the Rudgate Singers, will include the Gregorian Chant appropriate for this day, William Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices and motets by Johann Kaspar Aiblinger, Thomas Tallis and Franz Schubert.

Musical Setting: Byrd’s Mass for 4 Voices, sung by the Rudgate Singers.

This Mass, which will be in the traditional or Tridentine form, will be celebrated by Fr Mark Drew, with Fr Simon Leworthy as Deacon and Fr John Cahill as Subdeacon.

This is the form of the Mass that had its origins in the sixth century and was in regular use throughout the Church until about 1965.
