Spanning Hull 2017’s four seasons, The Butterfly Effect is an inspirational journey seen through the eyes of people with dementia and those who support them.
Celebrating lives and stories, this project aims to trigger memories while inviting people to question their preconceptions of what life with dementia is really like.
The Butterfly Effect project develops throughout the seasons of Hull 2017 with music, sculpture, photography and performance art workshops, performances and exhibitions. A sculpture is the centrepiece of each exhibition, symbolising the transition of those affected by dementia from diagnosis, to acceptance and positive living.
Following The Butterfly Effect’s successful music, performance and circus workshops for people with dementia and their families, Hear Our Voice, Celebrate With Us is the theme of the final celebration event for Tell The World season.
An exhibition will include a selection of the artwork produced for the project throughout the year, accompanied by a digital presentation.
A sculpture, having transformed into a butterfly, is set to take to the sky, followed by a kaleidoscope of butterflies carrying messages of hope for the future.
This final event will be a real celebration of everyone who has attended The Butterfly Effect workshops to date, those who will join in the future, and the project’s achievements throughout 2017 and beyond. The exhibition will be on display throughout December for anyone to visit, so there will be an opportunity for you to “Tell The World” your thoughts about The Butterfly Effect project.
- Hear Our Voice, Celebrate With Us takes place on Friday 1 December at Kardomah 94 from 2pm.
- Check The Butterfly Effect blog for regular updates on the project.
