A uplifting evening of live music with Yorkshire’s Paul Mirfin Band.

Join this up and coming band for a relaxed evening of folk-rock and Americana songs from their successful debut album ‘Ancient Roads’ and latest EP ‘Light Up’.

This year has seen an amazing acceleration for The Paul Mirfin Band following the release of their debut album ‘Ancient Roads’. The title track was selected as track of the week on BBC Introducing and they have received 4 star reviews from RnR Magazine and Cross Rhythms. This led to a proposal from Tony Cummings, renowned music journalist and owner of Light Song record company, who signed them for their first recording contract.

The band, based in Knaresborough, have a distinct sound that brings a Yorkshire slant to Americana music with influences such as Johnny Cash, Mumford & Sons and David Crowder. With a background working on the railways and childhood years in Sheffield, Paul’s melodies and lyrics are full of Northern grit and honesty. They’ve played at festivals and concert venues in the UK and California and were featured on a special railway edition of BBC 1 Songs of Praise.

Watch out for ‘Ancient Roads’ on vinyl later this year!

“Mirfin’s voice is the perfect vehicle to deliver the emotions -a rich, husky baritone reminiscent of Steve Earle, which seems to carry enough life experiences with it to give weight to the words it delivers. The result is that infectious, greasy blues tone which Robert Plant mined so effectively.” (Trevor Raggatt RNR Magazine)
