Established in 1968, London-based Trojan Records was the first label to distribute the music of Jamaica on a grand scale. It became for many in the UK the first point of contact with Jamaican music and culture, and offered a meeting place for young people to celebrate in sound what unites rather than divides us. With its reworkings of popular tunes and innovative originals, Trojan became a crucial link between two very different cultures.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the extraordinary phenomenon that was Trojan Records, Gary Crosby regroups his Jazz Jamaica All Stars for a spectacular show, The Trojan Story fielding an impressive line-up of established and rising stars, and featuring vocalists Brinsley FordeNoel McKoy and Dem Three (Cherise Adams-Burnett, Kianja Harvey-Elliott and Cara Crosby-Irons) plus Hull Freedom Chorus.

The Trojan Story features many of the best-loved anthems from the label including Desmond Dekker’s hit Israelites, Eric Donaldson’s classic Red, Red Wine and Harry J All Stars’ Liquidator, especially arranged by Jason Yarde. Hull Freedom Chorus will be joining the band, led by inspirational gospel choir leader, Mark de Lisser (vocal coach on BBC The Voice and arranger of the music sung by the Kingdom Choir at this year’s Royal Wedding).

Bring friends, bring family, and don’t forget your dancing shoes!
