The Freedom Talks have been an integral part of the festival programme since 2017.
We want to open up the debate and connect artists, academics and the public to explore themes presented as part of the wider festival. It’s an opportunity for you to discuss current issues and challenges around all aspects of freedom. This year, we’re featuring panel discussions on:

Queens Dock Avenue,
As part of the Hull Maritime City Project refurbishment work is ongoing within the gardens - due to be completed early 2024. Perfect for an al fresco lunch, a game of football or a leisurely stroll, Queens Gardens is located in the heart of Hull City Centre. Originally the first dock to be constructed in Hull, it was transformed into an picturesque garden space in 1930, lined with trees and ponds with fountains. More recently, Queens Gardens has become host for popular Hull events such as the Freedom Festival and YUM Festival.
