Ted Key is the original bass player and songwriter for the iconic, groundbreaking, 1980s band from Kingston Upon Hull, The Housemartins. He received BPI gold disks for his contributions to the albums ‘London0 Hull 4’ and ‘Now That’s What I Call Quite Good.’ He toured with the band for almost 2 years before leaving to continue guitar and song writing duties for cult punkabilly band, The Gargoyles from which he, and drummer Hugh Whitaker, had been poached. They released 2 seminal albums, ‘Mrs Twodinners’ and ‘Steamflapper’ and a handful of memorable singles.
Ted now returns with his new band, The ViPs, comprising old friends and seasoned Hull musicians. With a sound that crosses Graham Parker with The Clash and thought provoking, story driven lyrics, this is Raconteur Rock.
