The rich history of Whitefriargate, can be explored thanks to this Whitefriargate trail aimed at families. Children are invited to ‘look up, down and all around’ as they seek the answers to the questions on the trail. Did you know you can find a unicorn in Hull old Town? Or how many other animals there are hidden in the architecture? The trail highlights some of Whitefriargate’s unique features such as Hepworth’s Arcade, England’s only L-shaped arcade, and the country’s smallest window. There are also fun facts and information about the historic street’s medieval past.
The trail begins at Beverley Gate and weaves its way down Whitefriargate, finishing in Trinity Square.
Once families have completed the trail they can receive a free certificate, confirming that they are now experts on the history of Whitefriargate.
The trail forms part of the Hull High Street Heritage Action Zone project funded by Historic England. The project aims to uncover stories related to Hull Old Town and its rich cultural heritage
