Enter a world where 235 million years of history have been brought to life. From majestic mammoths to Saxon invaders, visitors to the Hull and East Riding museum of archaeology can look forward to an experience that is unique, educational and fun.

Wilberforce House

Birthplace of William Wilberforce, famous campaigner against the slave trade. The museum tells the story of the transatlantic slave trade and its abolition, as well as dealing with contemporary slavery. The galleries also offer a fascinating glimpse into West African culture.

Maritime Museum

Part of Yorkshire’s Maritime City Project. Opened in 1871 as Hull’s Dock Offices, this Grade 2* listed building regularly saw ships sail past its windows in the town centre’s docks. Later, the building became the city’s Maritime Museum in 1975.

The Spurn Lightship, a historic black and red vessel moored at Hull Marina. Once used to guide ships through the Humber estuary, the preserved lightship now serves as a museum, showcasing Hull’s maritime history.

Spurn Lightship

Part of the Yorkshire Maritime City Project. The Spurn Lightship will be fully restored with new interpretations and displays to tell her full story. For the first time ever, the public will get the unique opportunity to climb the lantern tower.  

Arctic Corsair

Part of the Yorkshire Maritime City Project. The Arctic Corsair is Hull’s ‘Cutty Sark’: a nationally significant vessel representing the end of a once major industry. Built in Beverley in 1960 for the Boyd Line, the Arctic Corsair had a career that included a world-record catch and conflict and collision in the Cod Wars.

University of Hull Early Music Choir with Hull Minster Choir and Soloists

Hull Minster is at the heart of the historic Old Town and has been a part of Hull’s footprint since the late 13th century. From the William Wilberforce marble font made in around 1380 to the stained-glass windows which are illuminated with biblical stories, there is an abundance of history to be explored.
