CONFESSIONS OF A CLUB COMIC
Comedian, author, cultural icon and – most recently – idiot who agreed to be tortured on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!, Shappi Khorsandi is a woman of many parts. But live comedy is where she’s in her element, and now – after her spell in the jungle – she sets out for the more welcoming destination of Hull.
A brand new hour of sharp-tongued gags, cultural observation and whatever else is in her easily distracted mind this time around. As heard on Radio 4, read in two warmly-received books, and seen sleeping in a hammock.
Star of Ab Fab The Movie and Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist, larger than life La Voix dazzles audiences with her incredible voice, natural wit and hilarious impersonations. From celebrities to The Royal Family, her glamorous performances have taken her around the world.
La Voix and her band bring you bewitching renditions of jazz, musical theatre and pop classics that are scarily accurate impressions of her female icons – from Cher to Tina Turner, Shirley Bassey to Liza Minelli – no diva is spared.
A feast for the senses, this evening of frills, frocks and fun is one not to be missed!

A comedy written by Peter Gordon in 1991, set in a suburban garden. While Alan attempts to tend his vegetable plot, his peace of mind is disturbed, not only by his impending fortieth birthday, but also by doubts about the fidelity of his wife, Claire.
The quiet of his garden initially provides some respite from his worries but this is soon disturbed by the ongoing squabbles of his neighbours, Jill and Dave. When a secret message falls into the wrong hands, a chain of events is set in motion which affects not only the two couples but also their friends, the well-meaning but inept Derek and the recently separated Sarah.
Alan’s concerns are temporarily eased by a surprise birthday party but the evening’s events only serve to throw the other relationships into turmoil, sowing the seeds of doubt for everybody!

“As subtle as Schumacher on Battiston,” some bloke on Twitter.
“Die entgueltige Teilung Europas – das ist mein Auftrag,” Henning himself.

Anarchic art clown and Fringe First winner Jamie Wood brings his acclaimed show O No! to Hull Truck Theatre on Friday 1 March. One of the most talked about shows of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2015, O No! is a unique, magical experience that escapes definition and breaks boundaries.
In 1962 a woman met a man in a queue for a dance. She never wanted to get married. She was a freedom loving hippy who wanted to travel the world. Instead, she got pregnant. Sometimes she talks about regretting not carrying on dancing. In 1962 a woman called Yoko published 500 copies of a book of art instructions: poetic propositions that celebrate the power of the imagination. It inspired a man called John to leave his wife, his child and his band. To the outside world he seemed to have lost himself, or his mind.
Disarmingly confessional, playful and highly visual, the show invites the audience to delve into the complexity of human interactions while exploring the cost of intimacy. A psychedelic ride and a wonky homage to the woman damned for destroying the Beatles, O No! borrows Yoko Ono’s art instructions to ask whether falling in love is always catastrophic.
“Fractious, hilarious and punctuated by undeniable beauty” ★★★★★ The Stage
“…like being sucked down a rabbit hole full of joy.” ★★★★ Fest Magazine
“a warm, endearing show that sends up and pays homage to Ono” ★★★★ The Guardian
Tickets £12.50
