Rosetta

Rosetta

Rosetta was developed in Hull, England and Vilnius, Lithuania. It is a collaboration between movement artist Zivilė Virkutytėn and digital artist Ed Grimoldby.

This solo movement performance is illuminated through cutting edge live motion tracking projection. Through the use of movement and technology a deeply introspective narrative is explored which traces the development of communication. It is an unrelenting sensory experience.

The performance was initially produced by Art’s Printing House Vilnius Lithuania and has been awarded by the Judges Professional Award Hull Dance Award 2017.

Movement and Choreography — Zivilė Virkutytėn
Projection Design — Ed Grimoldby
Music — Jūra Elena , Andrius Šiurys

This won the prize due to originality of physical vocabulary, form, genuine partnership with technology and theatrical charisma of the solo and performer. I loved the purity and the physicality of the choreography. It was fresh, and had a great balance of being challenging and arresting as well as very beautiful.” — Liv Lorent

Really brilliant unnerving and other worldly piece from Ed Grimoldby and Zivilė Virkutytėn last night at HullDancePrize. It felt like Stranger Things meets David Lynch meets dance. Captivating to watch.” — Yorkshire Dance

This performance contains flashing lights and loud music.
