This Spring, Tamar & Jo are delivering a range of free dance classes and workshops for anyone wanting to learn more or improve their dance skills.
Classes for anyone aged 16 and over are available to book at their studio at Shirethorn House in Hull City Centre, and sessions for any age are open at Gipsyville Library and Unity in Community.
The project, which is funded by Hull City Council aims to engage with people through participatory sessions, with a focus on connection, celebration, togetherness, expression and creativity.
All classes are stand-alone sessions and participants can come to as many or as few as they wish.
This fast-moving, spellbinding story explores the tension between our inner lives and how we make sense of the world around us with mesmerising choreography and a tale full of twists and turns.
The Comfort Chronicles is a live performance celebrating home comforts with dance, theatre, chats and tunes!
Created by Holly Gibbs, a Hull-based dance artist and choreographer. Her ethos is to make the arts accessible to all, to be enjoyed by all that wish to enjoy it.

The evening showcases newly created pieces of work by Max Life Dance Company, Ainthorpe Youth Centre, Pragnya Arts Centre, East Riding Youth Dance Company as well as the first performance of a dance piece created in a day with JoinedUp dance artist Effie McGuire Ward. Featuring the much loved, Paysage, soudain, la nuit by visionary Swedish choreographer Pontus Lidberg and Impronta, which was created specially for Acosta Danza by Spanish choreographer Maria Rovira. Making their UK premieres are Hybrid, by the award-winning Cuban Norge Cedeno, Liberto by Acosta Danza dancer and choreographer Raul Reinoso, and De Punta a Cabo by Alexis Fernandez, set against the backdrop of the coast of Havana.

Absolutely Cultured is proud to present an evening of physical performance in partnership with the University of Hull at The Donald Roy Theatre, The Gulbenkian Centre.
The event is part of a series of pilots over the next year, which aim to offer more opportunities to experience dance and physical performance in Hull.
Acting as a double bill, each evening features two shows; “Triptych” by Hull-based artist Kristin McGuire and “Unbroken” by Nikki Rummer, one half of duo Nikki & JD.
“Triptych” is a series of three short choreographies that explore pole dance as an art form, which requires a great deal of sensuality, physical strength, balletic elegance and gymnastic grace. The performance incorporates mapped projections that evolve as the dance progresses across the performance area.
This piece is performed by Kristin McGuire whose professional dance career spans more than 20 years of performing and choreographing for an eclectic range of international dance and theatre companies, including Cirque du Soleil and Mark Bruce Company
“Unbroken” is the debut solo performance by physical theatre and circus artist, Nikki Rummer, on tour in autumn 2021 and spring 2022. One bittersweet Christmas, three generations of the Rummer family are summoned home for one last gathering. Combining her talent for storytelling and her unique movement language inspired by her acrobatics, gymnastics and capoeira practice, Rummer tells a very personal story with universal resonance.
