Discover the next generation of dancers and choreographers as Creative Voice and Hull Dance take over Hull New Theatre.
The evening showcases newly created pieces of work by Max Life Dance Company, Ainthorpe Youth Centre, Pragnya Arts Centre, East Riding Youth Dance Company as well as the first performance of a dance piece created in a day with JoinedUp dance artist Effie McGuire Ward. Groups from across Hull and East Riding share a diversity of performances including Contemporary dance, Street dance and Bharatanatya.
Creative Voice is an arts development and youth development service initiative where young people can work towards local platform events as well as apply to the regional platform event Fresh featuring companies from across Yorkshire.
This event also sees the launch of ‘Move Together’ an inclusive youth dance opportunity with workshops and promotional film.

International ballet superstar Carlos Acosta’s critically acclaimed Cuban company Acosta Danza has garnered an unrivaled reputation for creating work that combines both classical and contemporary genres effortlessly, infused with Cuba’s rich musical and dance influences. The company makes its Hull debut with a programme of new and existing exceptional works.
Featuring the much loved, Paysage, soudain, la nuit by visionary Swedish choreographer Pontus Lidberg and Impronta, which was created specially for Acosta Danza by Spanish choreographer Maria Rovira. Making their UK premieres are Hybrid, by the award-winning Cuban Norge Cedeno, Liberto by Acosta Danza dancer and choreographer Raul Reinoso, and De Punta a Cabo by Alexis Fernandez, set against the backdrop of the coast of Havana.

Absolutely Cultured is proud to present an evening of physical performance in partnership with the University of Hull at The Donald Roy Theatre, The Gulbenkian Centre.
The event is part of a series of pilots over the next year, which aim to offer more opportunities to experience dance and physical performance in Hull.
Acting as a double bill, each evening features two shows; “Triptych” by Hull-based artist Kristin McGuire and “Unbroken” by Nikki Rummer, one half of duo Nikki & JD.
“Triptych” is a series of three short choreographies that explore pole dance as an art form, which requires a great deal of sensuality, physical strength, balletic elegance and gymnastic grace. The performance incorporates mapped projections that evolve as the dance progresses across the performance area.
This piece is performed by Kristin McGuire whose professional dance career spans more than 20 years of performing and choreographing for an eclectic range of international dance and theatre companies, including Cirque du Soleil and Mark Bruce Company
“Unbroken” is the debut solo performance by physical theatre and circus artist, Nikki Rummer, on tour in autumn 2021 and spring 2022. One bittersweet Christmas, three generations of the Rummer family are summoned home for one last gathering. Combining her talent for storytelling and her unique movement language inspired by her acrobatics, gymnastics and capoeira practice, Rummer tells a very personal story with universal resonance.

Johannes will take the audience on his personal journey, from growing up in South Africa, to travelling the world, winning titles and starring in Strictly Come Dancing.

Dance group Diversity are set to the return to the Bonus Arena, Hull on Saturday 3rd April 2022 for a matinee performance.
After a sold out show in 2019, the group will be bringing their new tour ‘Connected’ to Hull, the show which centres around the world of social media, the internet, and the digital era we now live in, but more importantly how this connects us all.
