There was a time when King John was one of Shakespeare’s most performed plays but in recent years pieces such as Henry V and Richard III seem to be more popular choices amongst his History Plays. King John – thought to be Shakespeare’s earliest history – is a play about power, politics and family and deserves more recognition.
