Absolutely Cultured - The Team 960

Introducing Absolutely Cultured

Absolutely Cultured is the new name for the company which delivered Hull’s year as the UK City of Culture 2017, the 365-day nationally significant event that achieved international recognition.

With a new name, new brand and a refreshed company purpose, Absolutely Cultured is an arts organisation rooted in Hull.

Building on the success of Hull 2017, the renamed company has a mission to create ambitious, surprising and challenging artistic works that bring people and communities together.

As commissioners of world-class cultural programming aimed at residents and visitors, Absolutely Cultured will work strategically with partners both inside the city and across the North, UK and internationally to cement Hull’s reputation as a centre for culture and creativity.

Absolutely Cultured is delighted to continue to run and programme Humber Street Gallery, now a firm fixture in the ever-evolving Fruit Market area.

The award-winning City of Culture Volunteer Programme will also continue as part of the Absolutely Cultured story.

Volunteer Programme

“We never imagined that we would have done so many different types of shift and done such amazing things. We have met some wonderful people – artists, event leads and members of the public.”

Applications for volunteering are open.

The City of Culture Volunteers stand as a human emblem of the success of Hull’s incredible year as the UK City of Culture 2017 and the iconic Volunteering Programme continues to grow as part of Absolutely Cultured’s story.

From giant dominoes to planting thousands of tulips, last year over 2,000 City of Culture Volunteers continued to spread their magic across the city. Remaining a familiar face at cultural locations and events they also expanded into new areas – completing over 2,400 hours of volunteering every week.

There is no set story for becoming a Volunteer – everyone’s journey is different. You may be looking to meet new people, develop skills for your CV, or just want to try something different as part of your New Year’s resolutions. What we can guarantee is that you get to be part of something really incredible, something unique to Hull.

As well as the uniform and volunteer network you’ll also get access to an innovative Masterclass programme – optional training courses ranging from creative writing and dance to learning about Hull’s history archives and heritage.

You can find all the information you need and apply online here https://www.absolutelycultured.co.uk/get-involved/volunteer/
