Jurassic Wilderness Maze

A giant pterodactyl model will soar above shoppers as part of the Princes Quay’s latest attraction – the Jurassic Wilderness maze.

Created by local company Agility Events, the 3m-wide flying dinosaur, which has been constructed using chicken wire, foam and latex, will be suspended 10m from the floor in the shopping centre’s atrium.

While spectacular during the day, the winged dinosaur will look even better at night, as special gobo projections will be used to add depth and texture to truly bring the model to life – offering an amazing photo opportunity to evening visitors.

Tony Jennings, director of Agility Events, said: “After working on the hugely successful Easter Maze for Princes Quay, it was fantastic to be asked to create this amazing model and the Jurassic Wilderness maze.

“Our scenic artists have been hard at work for weeks to design and build the pterodactyl and we’re delighted with the end result.”

The model will tower above the Jurassic Wilderness maze, an immersive experience that will use dense foliage and a specially-made soundscape to take visitors back to a time when dinosaurs ruled the Earth.

The 12x8m maze, also the work of Agility Events, will place visitors in the dense undergrowth of a prehistoric jungle, but explorers who can successfully navigate a way through could win a prize.

Visitors will be invited to find eight letters placed around the maze and assemble them into a special word to be entered into a daily prize draw, with participants also be featured on social media.

The maze will be open between 12 noon and 4pm every day from Tuesday 14 August to Sunday 9 September and is free, there will be prizes available to win each day and snaps taken from the event will be available across Princes Quay social media accounts.
