The Buffalo Skinners are a blues rock & roll group at heart, but glimmers of their folk and country roots are always on show.
Now nearing their thirteenth year together, 2023 marks an exciting new chapter for Peter (guitar & vocals) & James (violin & vocals)… Fellow founding member (and Felice Brother enthusiast) Lawrence Menard is now back in the fold on Accordion, Keys & Electric Guitar and the band find themselves fully submerged in a lively electric sound that they had previously only dipped their toes into on tracks like ‘Monkey On Your Back’.
Their latest album ‘Picking Up What You’re Putting Down’ is the first to feature Lawrence since 2014’s album ‘The Other Nine-to-Five’ and includes the single ‘Washing My Hands.’ The record’s penultimate track ‘Regret, Regret’ (an 8 minute long, many versed musing on the song’s title subject) includes cameos from members of Holy Moly & The Crackers and Rob Heron and The Pad Orchestra.
The Buffalo Skinners’ adventures have taken them all over (North America, Ireland, France, Germany, Norway), they’ve performed at some of the most renowned music festivals in the UK (Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk Festival, BBC Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park) and their music has earned the attention, air-play and esteem of many high profile BBC radio DJs including Steve Lamacq, Bob Harris, Cerys Matthews, Janice Long, Paul Jones and Dermot O’Leary.
