10.15pm Grinny Grandad
Grinny Grandad is a York based music collective whose songs have appeared in Grand Theft Auto (San Andreas and Liberty City Stories), Desperados Beer Advert and various TV shows – Come Dine With Me, Super Scrimpers (Channel 4), The One Show (BBC 1), Celebrity Wedding Planner (Channel 5). Their music can also be heard on the soundtrack of French film La Croisiere. Grinny Grandad has received radio support from BBC Radio (BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 6), XFM and Kiss FM as well as a live session at the infamous Maida Vale Studios for BBC Radio 1. Regularly playing festivals including Glastonbury and hold a residency at Beatherder.

Post Punk three piece, who’s gazey and gothic sound gain frequent comparisons to the likes of Joy Division and early The Cure, as well as contemporaries including Protomartyr, The Strokes and DIIV.

After facing a devastating closure during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic under the ownership of a national company, the previous management of the Polar Bear worked to resurrect the venue as swiftly as possible. With an overwhelming outpour of support from the resilient community of Hull, ‘Polar Bear Music Club’ made a triumphant return in 2021, this time as a Community Interest Company (CIC). In collaboration with their friends from ‘The Sesh,’ Polar Bear is dedicated to offering free entry nights every Tuesday, featuring a diverse line-up of local, national, and international musicians. Additionally, the venue hosts weekly free entry club nights, along with ticketed gigs and live performances, catering to a wide range of musical tastes and preferences for the people of Hull.
