The stage is transformed into a boxing ring: the Amsterdam ensemble Ikarai takes the audience into the tale of the boxing legend Muhammad Ali. A daring fight between classical, jazz and audio and video samples of Ali’s famous Rumble in the Jungle and his charismatic speeches.
The epic fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman in 1974 in Kinshasa, Zaïre (now Congo) is the perfect match for a musical score: rhythmic, gracious, honest but with heavy blows.
