ALINA BZHEZHINSKA HIP HARP QUARTET With special guest Vimala Rowe

Internationally renowned Ukrainian/Polish harpist Alina Bzhezhinska has built a reputation for innovation. For this new project, she creates a unique sound on the harp with electronics and loop pedals, supported by her superb musicians. Through a combination of original works and covers, she pays homage to some of jazz, funk and hip-hop’s greatest innovators.

Her new quartet draws from a variety of influences, including Dorothy Ashby’s Afro-harping, Alice Coltrane’s spiritual outputs and Sun Ra’s jazz experimentation, as well as 90’s trip-hop and Kuti-esque Afrobeat rhythms.

We’re delighted to welcome guest vocalist Vimala Rowe, last seen in Hull with John Etheridge and in The Music of Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan.
