An exhibition Inspired by experiences of using public transport and the collections at the Streetlife Museum.
The Loud Mouths Young People Engagement Group are a group of young people aged 14-25 with additional needs and/or disabilities in Hull who meet fortnightly at the charity Kids Hull and East Yorkshire. They’ve been working with artist Anna Bean for the last couple of months on an exhibition inspired by their experiences of using public transport and the collections at the Streetlife Museum.
The result is an exhibition full of colour, creativity and vibrancy with a strong personal message from the young people; “With this project we wanted to explain to people what we struggle with when travelling on public transport. We want to speak up and spread awareness because some people might feel the same but not be able to say anything”.
The exhibition coincides with Disability History Month this year and will run from Saturday 25th November to Sunday 21st January at Streetlife Museum.
The project is part of Hull Museums ongoing commitment to engaging D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent visitors and making sites more accessible and follows a successful exhibition during last year’s Disability History Month with artist Jason Wilsher-Mills.
