Hull has had a long and storied history with many fantastical music acts throughout the years, alongside featuring several prolific and ground breaking venues. What better way to explore Hull’s unique sound than by checking out some of the fantastic free music nights the city has to offer?
Starting with Monday, head over to the phenomenal venue The New Adelphi Club, with over 40 years of some of the best names in music passing through their doors, you know you’re in for a good night! Mondays from 8pm are their cracking Musician’s Nights, a weekly open mic night 39 years in the running, featuring some of the regions most talented unsigned acts and some first timers!
Tuesday you can head on over to another grand staple of Hull’s music scene, Polar Bear Music Club. From 7:30pm you can check out The Sesh, a spotlight for up and coming artists that’s been running since 2002. For something more acoustic, you can also head over to Service Station to check out their Acoustic Open Mic Nights from 8pm.
Thursdays feature a musical favourite of Hulls, hosted in the fascinating confines of Trinity Market, you can catch Trinity Live from 6pm onwards, a weekly music night featuring a top-talent rolodex of class-acts from across the city and beyond. Further out than the city centre? Why not pop by The People’s Republic down The Avenues and check out Live @ The People’s from 8pm.
Friday’s are perfect for heading down Whitefriargate to catch Live Music at the Drum & Cymbals from 9pm.
Saturdays head back to Polar Bear Music Club for Wired, where their free DJ Night bangs out all the hottest underground hits from 10:30pm, or drop in Service Station for their Saturday Night Live rotating line-up of top acts from 9pm.
Finally on a Sunday, get your folk on by heading to The Minerva from 5pm for some classic folk and maritime songs with the Minerva Sessions. Alternatively, Hygge offers up fantastic cocktails whilst serving acoustic vibes with their Acoustic Sundays from 4pm. You can even head to Hull’s fantastic Freedom Quarter and catch the Acoustic Night @ Cherry’s Bar from 4pm!
