This summer, something truly special is taking root in Hull! Fresh from captivating crowds at the world-famous RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the Songbird Survival Garden is making a permanent move to Bransholmeās Neighbourhood Network Community Centre on Goodhart Road.
Created by award-winning garden designer Nicola Oakey and supported by Project Giving Back, this garden isnāt just beautiful ā itās a powerful tribute to the UK’s endangered songbirds.
š¦ A Garden with a Purpose
Designed to raise awareness about the alarming decline in UK songbird populations, the garden is inspired by the natural movements of birds as they forage, rest, and sing. Step into a space that features:
-
Layered planting that mimics natureās protective cover
-
A circular pond for birds to bathe and drink
-
A charming birdhouse den made from reclaimed materials
-
Six hand-crafted metal motifs of at-risk UK songbirds ā a poignant reminder of what we stand to lose
This garden isnāt just for looking at ā itās here to educate, inspire, and reconnect you with nature.
š¦ Explore the Wider Wild Side of Hull & East Yorkshire
Thereās more to discover beyond the garden! Hull and East Yorkshire are home to some of the UKās most incredible wildlife experiences:
-
Red Kites gliding over the Yorkshire Wolds
-
Puffins nesting on the towering Bempton Cliffs
-
Rare Wrynecks spotted at Spurn Point Nature Reserve
-
