Cheap Dirty Horse are a big rowdy queer trash folk-punk six-piece band from Nottingham.
Since starting as a busking project in the summer of 2022, the band have continued growing in every sense, from a two-piece to a six-piece, From the streets to endless tours up and down the country, support slots with folk-punk legends Apes of The State, Pigeon Pit, Crywank, June Henry, and Sister Wife Sex Strike, and festival slots at 2000 Trees, Bearded Theory and Latitude Festival, and from crappy home recordings to their professionally made debut album that comes out next year.
Their enigmatic form of protest music brings energy and joy to the stage. Blending acoustic and electric guitars with banjos, accordions, dirty driving bass, and big booming drums, the band’s mantra seems to be ‘hope’.
They sing about trans rights, dead billionaires, and the importance of doing the things you love. They sing about grief, octopuses, and stealing shit. It’s angry, but always empowering.
