The lecture is an annual event, delivered by an eminent scholar in the field of Modern Languages, to honour the memory of Professor Garnet Rees, Professor of French Poetry at the University until 1979. This year, the lecture will be given by Professor Loredana Polezzi, Professor of Translation Studies at the University of Cardiff.
The talk will appeal to a broad audience, covering as it does a spectrum of interests from translation studies and Italian culture, to questions of gender and migration.
The University of Hull has been changing the way people think for 90 years. Our motto, Lampada Ferens, translates as ‘carrying the light of learning’, and over the years, we’ve shared that light with thousands of people from across the world. As England’s 14th-oldest university, we have a proud heritage of academic excellence, and a history of creating and inspiring life-changing research. And we have no plans to stop helping to build a better world.
