Following on from our successful PlayLab event this Summer, we are pleased to announce further dates where you will be able to see exciting new works from two emerging writers through our live theatre experience.

PlayLab2 will showcase two captivating plays each night over a three-day period. Simply choose your preferred night and you will have the opportunity to see these compelling new works in a workshop format, with each play being rehearsed beforehand and then delivered script-in-hand by our cast of professional actors.

Featuring a live performance by Vincent Regan

We are very pleased to announce that ERT’s very own Vincent Regan will star in one of the plays every night, which will be presented in a workshop format. Vincent will also be accompanied by other cast members, who will be announced very soon!

As with PlayLab this Summer, we shortlisted a total of ten plays from nearly 200 submissions, which we received from new, emerging and etablished playwrights all around the World. We are pleased to announce that two of these plays have been selected for your entertainment, which will be performed together each night on selected dates this Autumn…

Against the backdrop of a world financial meltdown comes a story of two sisters – a family tale of lies, supernatural horror, murder, mass-suicide, underclass revenge and a wounded, contemporary world.

 

ANSWERING MACHINES

Written by Jordan Noble | Staring Vincent Regan and other cast to be announced | Running time 60 mins

Lauriston Moss is facing the end alone. He and his AI assistant take stock of what he will leave behind, and they discover a mysterious piece of property in his name. When he arrives, it turns out to house a machine that believes it’s his long-deceased mother. On his last night, can he learn the lessons of generations, and leave a positive mark on the world?

EAST RIDING THEATRE IS A COMMUNITY THEATRE, BASED IN BEVERLEY. Established in 2014, the venue was created from a former Victorian chapel and it oifers an intimate space for enjoying many types of entertainment, with a 200 seat auditorium and fully licensed Café Bar. The year-round programme of entertainment, includes theatre, music, comedy, spoken word and much more. Regular exhibitions of art are displayed within the Theatre Gallery. It is also a venue that is often used for festivals and other events. OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF OUR THEATRE Without our Volunteers we would not have a theatre. They are passionate about the entertainment programme that we deliver and dedicated in making a contribution to our day-to-day activities throughout all areas of the theatre – whether it be welcoming our audience front-of-house, selling tickets in the box office, serving drink and food in our café bar, helping with maintenance, keeping the theatre clean or one of many other roles!
