Sonic Union brings stripped back sets from our favourite artists to The Polar Bear! Using the light of our traditional dome, we’re excited to provide an intimate setting to watch three incredible artists. We ask all attendees to remain silent through the performances. Event limited to 50 tickets.
A strong soulful sisterhood, nurturing a unique sound, through ethereal vocal harmonies and storytelling lyrics. Rooted in authenticity, childhood friends, Amy and Lily, have grown the project organically with a DIY work ethic; from performances at open-mic nights and BBC Introducing Sessions, to having been included in Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent longlist for 2020. In 2021, Sunflower Thieves opened for Flyte on their UK tour, before releasing the much anticipated debut EP, ‘Someone To Be There For’, which was released in April 2022, and met with huge support from BBC Radio 1’s Sian Eleri, 6Music’s Steve Lamacq and revered tastemaker, Tom Robinson.
The Leeds-based duo are exciting ones to watch in 2022 and beyond as they continue creating their own brand of warm dream-indie tracks.
Venue Details
After facing a devastating closure during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic under the ownership of a national company, the previous management of the Polar Bear worked to resurrect the venue as swiftly as possible. With an overwhelming outpour of support from the resilient community of Hull, ‘Polar Bear Music Club’ made a triumphant return in 2021, this time as a Community Interest Company (CIC). In collaboration with their friends from ‘The Sesh,’ Polar Bear is dedicated to offering free entry nights every Tuesday, featuring a diverse line-up of local, national, and international musicians. Additionally, the venue hosts weekly free entry club nights, along with ticketed gigs and live performances, catering to a wide range of musical tastes and preferences for the people of Hull.
