Festival of Archaeology – FREE Public Lecture
Prof Harold Mytum digs into the fascinating history of graveyards in the 1800’s. With a look at public health, graveyard practice and grave robbing, he talks about conditions of burials in city centers, reveals some interesting stories about them, and talks about grave robbing in cities like Hull.
About Professor Mytum
Professor Harold Mytum is Professor of Archaeology in the Department of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology in the University of Liverpool, He advises the Diocese of York on graveyard practice and care. Harold works closely with the charity Caring for God’s Acre which provides training and advice to community groups to manage their graveyards sensitively with regard to their natural and cultural heritage.
