ONE OFF PRODUCTIONS returns to East Riding Theatre with another instalment of TALKING HEADS.

These two monologues, originally written for television by Alan Bennett; one of Britain’s best-loved and most highly acclaimed writers, are brought to life live on stage. Their stories are poignant, hilarious, sometimes sad and occasionally uplifting. They showcase Bennett’s sharp powers of observation, comic timing and exquisite turn of phrase. Alan Bennett may be regarded as a national treasure, but that title belies the darker, sinister and more satirically barbed nature of his work.

Her Big Chance – Performed by Katy Sproats

Her Big Chance tells the funny story of Lesley, an aspiring actress who is offered what she believes to be her big break in a new film for the West German market. Hearing her story, we start to glimpse her naivety, and realise that this isn’t perhaps the shortcut to the big time she expected it to be!

A Lady of Letters – Performed by Kirsty Old

Irene Ruddock spends her life dashing off letters of complaint. When she’s not writing, she’s keeping an eye on the couple opposite and their little girl with bruises. But when the police come by, it’s Irene whose life is turned upside down.
