Celebrating its fiftieth anniversary in 2024, Confusions is a cover title for a sequence of interconnected one act plays by the much-loved Alan Ayckbourn.
Highlighting the many foibles of human behavior, we witness the farcical consequences of an overly ambitious Summer Fête; the trials and tribulations of a stay-at-home mum and one man’s bid to conquer loneliness with his own unique brand of ‘haute couture’.
Written in the seventies during a period of economic decline and growing uncertainty, Ayckbourn makes no apology for exposing the humiliation and heartache felt by many.
Occasionally dark but always funny, Confusions reveals the indomitable spirit of the stiff upper lip when confronted with a world where it never rains but it pours!
Five actors, three plays and a bundle of laughs from one of the most prolific writers for the English stage.
