Producer and actor Kobby Taylor brings his own brand of gig-theatre to life with live-synth, harp and remixes of classics from Afrobeat legend, his grandad Ebo Taylor. Vivek Santhosh will bring Moog and prophet synths basslines and pads and progressive harpist Stephanie Halsey will put a modern spin on a traditional instrument. Kobby’s music blends hip-hop storytelling with jazz tinted Afrobeat grooves. The result is The Torch – part-mixtape, part-confessional, all performed live with the spontaneity of an improvising band.
Kobby has previously had success as co-composer and performer in the multi-award-winning The Canary and The Crow; and word has spread fast following a sold-out premiere of The Torch.
