Dir Paul Andrew Williams | UK | 2025 | 98 mins | Rated 15 | English
The story of Elsie — an elderly, lonely pensioner living alone — and her neighbour Colleen, a troubled younger woman with only her dog for company. When Colleen notices Elsie isn’t getting proper support from her overworked carers, she starts helping — shopping for groceries, spending time with her, and offering companionship. Their unlikely friendship brings warmth and hope, but underlying tension grows when Elsie’s guilt-ridden son becomes suspicious of Colleen’s motives. As trust fractures and secrets emerge, the scene is set for a denoument that lays bare the fragility of human connection. Starring Andrea Riseborough, Brenda Blethyn, Jason Watkins

ACCESSIBILITY
Subtitles
This film will be presented with Descriptive Subtitles. In addition to reproducing dialogue, these subtitles include additional non-dialogue sounds available to a hearing audience, e.g. “(sighs)” or “(door creaks)” and song lyrics. In our experience, guests do not find the subtitles distracting, especially as the majority of our films are subtitled foreign language films.
Hull Independent Cinema is working towards making our films more accessible. We have decided to present all our films with Descriptive Subtitles where available.
