MARINA
Hull’s waterfront has a real cosmopolitan feel. Soak up the scenery or sit back and enjoy a meal at one of the many popular restaurants around Hull’s stunning marina. For something more active, get your team ready for a life on the ocean waves with a team-building exercise onboard the Cat Zero yacht.
The historic Fruit Market area near the Marina is the home to a thriving cultural quarter with contemporary art galleries, Humber Street Gallery and Studio Eleven, a range of restaurants from pizza to fine dining, quirky hipster joints, music venues, drinking establishments and Hull’s very own gin distillery. A definite on any delegate’s to-do list.
EXPLORE, EXPERIENCE, ENJOY
Looking for Culture? You’ve come to the right place. In 2017 as UK City of Culture, Hull embarked on a 365-day celebration of cultural events and creativity. More than 2,000 events took place at 250-plus venues, with millions of visitors and delegates flocking to galleries, museums and performance spaces, bringing more than £60 million into the region.
Now come and experience it for yourself or even better bring your conference attendees along too! We can help you to create a unique social itinerary for your group, or one that your delegates can enjoy on their own.
LOVE ART AND ARTIFACTS?
At Hull’s free museums you can see a mermaid (honest!), a woolly mammoth, you can roll back the years with a Victorian carriage ride and discover an Egyptian mummy. Hull has a host of art galleries including the jewel in Hull’s art crown – Ferens Art Gallery.
The Ferens recently hosted “Brick by Brick” which featured the works of eight artists, designers and photographers who use LEGO bricks as their medium or inspiration. The gallery was also a 2018 Museum of the Year finalist, plus it’s the perfect venue for your delegate drinks reception.
SPORT
“You’re only here for the culture” is one of the more unusual football chants sung by Hull City AFC fans on the terraces. If football’s not your game, we’ve got two top rugby league clubs – Hull FC and Hull Kingston Rovers – so why not visit a match and treat your VIPs to some corporate hospitality.
THEATRE, FESTIVALS AND LIVE EVENTS
We love a good festival in Hull and East Yorkshire, whether it’s an annual celebration of literature, music, theatre, comedy, Pride, food, Christmas, art, film, photography or tech.
Find bold, contemporary theatre at Hull Truck, or discover smaller, award-winning theatre companies in unexpected locations such as Middle Child and Silent Uproar. Catch performances at Hull New Theatre, as well as comedy and live music at Bonus Arena too. Head to smaller, independent venues such as The Adelphi to see the next big thing in an intimate, informal atmosphere.
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
We are lucky enough to have outstanding educational establishments facilities right on our doorstep. The University of Hull carries out groundbreaking research that has a global impact, key areas include health and well-being, energy and the environment. The state of the art Brynmor Jones Library houses an art gallery which has exhibited works by Michelangelo and commissions from the National Portrait Gallery.
