How does your view of life change in your teenage years?
Growth Spurt is a song writing and music performance project that has worked with 100 young people in Hull during 2017.
My Pockets engaged with 12 groups including young people from Pupil Referral Units, hospitals, refugees and those not in education or training.
Each group wrote a song on the theme of Growth Spurts, exploring what it is like to be a teenager – the struggles, fears, hopes and triumphs they face in their everyday lives.
From learning how to use music software, play instruments and write lyrics based on their own experiences to recording the song, hosting a radio show to performing their song at a live event – growth spurt tells the stories of Hull’s teenagers.
