The Sixteen Thousand – FAQs

Where can I collect my brick from?

Bricks can be collected on Sunday 5 November from Block C of C4DI at 31-33 Queen Street, Hull, HU1 1UU.

What time can I collect my brick?

You will be able to access the exhibition space from 1pm on Sunday 5 November 2017.

If I know where my child’s brick is, can I take it?

Due to the large number of children involved in the project it is not possible to match individual bricks to each child, and they will be allocated at random.

However, if you know which brick your child made and can point it out to us, you are welcome to take the brick away with you.

Will the exhibition still be open for viewing on Sunday?

The exhibition and creative clay workshops will be closed on Sunday. We advise that you visit the exhibition before Sunday 5 November to view the installation and participate in our workshops.

How long will I have to wait on Sunday to get my brick?

We cannot estimate how popular the collection day will be so please wear appropriate clothing as the queues will be situated outside of Block C.

What if my child’s brick has already been taken by the time I arrive?

Due to the large numbers involved in the project it is not possible to match individual bricks to each child, and they will be allocated at random.

How many bricks can I collect?

We ask that you only take 1 brick but if you have several children who have taken part in the project let us know.

What if the brick I have been given has another child’s name on?

We will avoid giving you a brick with a name on it but if we do please let us know at the time and we will swap it for an alternative.

What time will the collection end?

We aim to close the exhibition space by 6pm, if you are queuing before this time we will ensure you are given a brick subject to availability.

What if I can’t make Sunday 5 November?

We are hosting alternative days for brick collection from the former Staples site, please see below. These days will be held subject to availability of bricks remaining from Sunday 5 November.

Will there be other dates I can collect a brick?

We appreciate that you may not be able to attend on Sunday 5 November and therefore have arranged for alternative collection dates as per the below:

Friday 17 November, 6pm to 9pm, (Former Staples), Myton Street Retail Park, Hull, HU1 2PS
Saturday 18 November, 10am to 1pm, (Former Staples), Myton Street Retail Park, Hull, HU1 2PS

What if there aren’t any bricks left?

Due to the large numbers involved in the project it is not possible to match individual bricks to each child, and they will be allocated at random. Subject to popularity on Sunday 5 November we cannot guarantee that there will be bricks remaining towards the end of the day.
