The Breakfast Club Presents
Amoeba Teen, Spygenius and The Gold Needles
We welcome to Hull for the first time AMOEBA TEEN who meld together lush harmonies, hooky melodies, the odd sample and overdriven guitars. Hints of power pop can be heard: Teenage Fanclub, Jellyfish and Big Star spring to mind. But their raucous guitar and reverb soundscapes keeps the vibe punky and a little dirtier. Supported by SPYGENIUS who are a power-pop 4 piece band based in Canterbury.
Catchy pop songs, lyrical wit (with many a twist!) and elaborate harmonies to boot. Imagine The Beatles, The Bonzos and The Beach Boys in the same room and you get the idea. Completing tonight’s line up with have Hull’s THE GOLD NEEDLES – the only UK band to be signed to legendary US label, Jem Records. The play melodic powerpop that jangles with a hint of psychedelia. Their last album THROUGH A WINDOW was described as ‘this could, and should be, the album that breaks The Gold Needles worldwide.’
Iconic live music venue. One of the UK's most celebrated underground clubs.
