Tracey Thorn is an acclaimed musician and writer, best-known for her seventeen years in bestselling duo ‘Everything But the Girl’, with Hull alumni Ben Watt and named after a Hull furniture store. Tracey graduated from the University of Hull’s English Department in 1984 with a first class degree and an exciting and successful music career already in place. Since then she has released four solo albums, one movie soundtrack, several singles and three books including the Sunday Times best-selling memoir Bedsit Disco Queen. She has judged the Women’s Prize for Fiction and the Goldsmith’s Prize and currently writes for the New Statesman. Tracey returns to her alma mater to talk about the music business, writing and the city and university from which she and Ben launched their brilliant musical and writing careers.
