Sheffield based artist Stephen Todd will talk about his approach and the inspiration he finds on the Humber Estuary; “The landscape provides material for exploring facts and suppositions; certainty and imaginings.”
The Humber Estuary mixes raw beauty with industrial activity, from oyster catchers on the mud flats to ore carriers and wind farms. But it is also its history that appeals to Todd, scars left on the landscape and the memory. These elements, from broken concrete gun emplacements to decaying forts, from mass emigration to whaling, are a history of these islands.
